An arctic blast is hitting the US this week and that means problems with frozen pipes. This blast is going to hit deep into the south, even though we generally don't see these blasts until December or January.
Here are a few questions to ask yourself to be sure you are ready:
- Are the windows in the stairwells closed and if damaged replaced? Pipes can freeze from open windows in stairwells.
- Are all heating systems functional? Have you had them checked out?
- If the building is not fully occupied at all times, do youhave a means to periodically monitor the temperature in the building?
Potential areas with greatest risk for pipe freeze ups are:
- Above ceilings on an outside wall
