Jon Mills Head shot We are very pleased to announce that our very own Jon Mills will be serving a year long term as the Sustainability Chair for the Florida Chapter APWA. He was chosen for this position by the FL APWA President, Dale Haas, because of his knowledge and active interest in Florida sustainability. Jon is looking forward to educating Florida’s public works departments and he is excited to be a hub of information for anyone who wants to learn how to take steps toward becoming more sustainable.

“This opportunity is a privilege and I am grateful to be asked to contribute to sustainability in public works,” says Mills, “This is a topic of great interest and importance in the state of Florida and I’m eager to do what I can to help it.”

The APWA Center for Sustainability was established in 2008 and is dedicated to developing the next generation of sustainability professionals in public works. With so many challenges facing public works professionals, such as budget cuts and the rising cost of materials, a new way of thinking is required. Issues like climate change, resource scarcity, and the needs of the population mean they need to review processes and ensure balance between what’s best for residents, the environment, and the community as a whole. The Center for Sustainability is working hard to make strides in this area and we look forward to lending our expertise to the Florida Chapter’s Sustainability Committee.

The Dude Family is thrilled to congratulate Jon, this is an honor and we are incredibly proud of him!
