Dudes volunteering at a charity event Every year, Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center hosts a Radiothon with MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM to benefit and support the children’s and medical programs to continue the hospital’s care for children. The MIX 101.5 Radiothon raises more money per capita than any other children’s hospital radiothon in the country, and has raised over $15 million dollars since it began 19 years ago.

Dude Solutions (FacilityDude and SchoolDude), through its Good Dude philanthropy program participated this week to support the local community, hospital and children. The Good Dude has actively participated in the 101.5 Radiothon supporting Duke Children’s Hospital for the last 6 years through volunteer hours during the Radiothon and donations by Dude Solutions and individual employees.

The Good Dude participates in a variety of philanthropy events throughout the year, pledging 1% of employee time, 1% of profits, and 1% of product services to under-served schools, non-profit organizations, and other local causes close to our heart.

Five volunteers represented the Dude family on February 13th, working the phones and taking donations. “It was a great experience to see patients from the hospital that were directly affected from the donations we were receiving! It was great to be part of an event that I have listened to on the radio for over 15 years,” said Grant Meiburg, one of the Dude volunteers.

The money donated supports valuable programs and services such as preoperative educational videos and brochures, reading programs, craft supplies, and magazines, toys, and games to child patients. These help to improve the surgical experience for young children facing difficult times and improve their quality of life. The MIX 101.5 Radiothon raised $1,122,416 this year.

"The last hour of the event raised $88,436! I can’t wait to volunteer again next year,” said Katie Turnmire, another Dude volunteer. See more photos on Facebook.
